Week 1 subjects and spelling words

This week we are going to be learning about community! We will begin to build a community of learners in the classroom as well as learn about all of the different communities that each of us is involved with.

In science, we are going to plant green bean seeds. My hope is that these beans will be big enough to harvest and eat in time for a Thanksgiving meal. Yum!

Meet the teacher

Hello classroom friends and parents! My name is Kristen Young and I am going to be Sontag Elementary's newest preschool teacher. I was born and raised here in Rocky Mount and I am very exciting to be living and working in the community again. I attended Radford University where I majored in Early Childhood/Early Childhood Special Education. I am currently completing my Master's degree from Radford as well. I have worked with children in different capacities including teaching dance, being a summer camp counselor, managing a before and after school daycare site, and various babysitting jobs. I guess you could just say that teaching was a logical choice for me! I am looking forward to getting to know you and your children.

I created this blog as a way for parents to stay informed on what is going on in the classroom. I will post weekly introductions and spelling lists by each Monday night. I will also include a calendar so that you are aware of what is going on in our classroom!
